Miss M.'s Puppenhaus / Miss M.'s doll house

Julia von Kreativlabor Berlin hat letztens ein superschönes Puppenhaus renoviert. Das Puppenhaus ist einfach der Hammer - so kreativ und superschön hergerichtet. Meine Mutter hat bereits vor anderthalb Jahren ein Puppenhaus für Miss M. gekauft und meinte damals nur: "Das kannst du ja in deinem Keller lagern und Miss M. kriegt es dann zu Ihrem 3. Geburtstag!" (Ihr müsst wissen zu diesem Zeitpunkt standen wir kurz vor dem Umzug von Neuseeland zurück nach Deutschland, es musste also eine weitere nicht gerade kleine Kiste mit in den Container).

Nun kam also endlich der Tag an dem die Kiste aus dem Keller geholt werden konnte und mit Julia's Puppenhaus im Hinterkopf, machte ich mich an die Renovierung, denn wirklich gefallen hat mir das Haus nicht auf Anhieb.

Julia from Kreativlabor Berlin redecorated an amazing doll's house. The house looks amazing - creative and with a lot of lovely details. My mum bought a doll's house for Miss M. a year and a half ago and said: "You can put it in your cellar and she will get it for her 3rd birthday!" (You have to know that we were just about to move back to Germany from New Zealand at the time - so we had to pack one more pretty big box in the container).

So now the day had finally arrived to get the box out of the cellar. And with Julia's doll's house in mind, I started renovating cause I didn't really like the house in the beginning.

Was mir nicht gefallen hat, ist die Tatsache, dass viele der Möbel auf die Wände gemalt waren. Die Schränke und die Kommode im Schlafzimmer. Die komplette Küche war nur aufgemalt und der große Plasma-Bildschirm im Wohnzimmer war auch nicht echt. Zu alledem war die dominierende Farbe des Hauses Pink - und das ist leider so gar nicht meine Farbe...

What I did not like about it was the fact that most of the furniture was painted on the walls. The closets in the bedroom were painted on, the complete kitchen was fake and the TV in the living room wasn't real either. On top of that the dominating color of the house was pink - and I am really not a big fan of pink...

Was ich wirklich toll an dem Haus finde, ist, dass es sogar einen echten Aufzug hat.

What I did like about the house was the elevator...that actually works!!!

Aber mal ehrlich, mit aufgemalten Möbeln können Kinder doch nicht wirklich gut spielen. Vor allem nicht, wenn man so eine kleine Maus wie meine hat, die mit Begeisterung "Haus"-spielt...

But let's be honest, children can't really play with painted on furniture. Especially when you have one little monkey at home that is obsessed with playing "house"...

Eins war also klar, es musste ganz dringend renoviert werden. Erst wollte ich alles abschleifen und neu streichen, aber dann kam mir ein Geistesblitz. Manchen von euch wäre die Idee wahrscheinlich gleich als erstes gekommen, aber bei mir hat es eben etwas länger gedauert - Klebefolie!!!!

So one thing was clear, the house needed a makeover. First I thought about sanding the wall and painting it, but then I had a really great idea. Well, okay, some of you might have thought of that at first, but I needed a little longer: adhesive foil!!!

Die Küche kriegt eine Blümchentapete, das Schlafzimmer und Bad wird im Barockstil eingerichtet...

The kitchen will get a cute little flower wallpaper and the bedroom and bath will be decorated in a renaissance style...

Das Wohnzimmer wird im eleganten grau-weiß gehalten und der Boden mit Packet verlegt, von außen kriegt das Haus eine schicke Holzoptik.

The living room will get a stylish grey-and-white finish. A wooden floor and a white outside will give the house the last finishing touch.

Da alle Möbel vorab aufgemalt waren, musste eine komplett neu Einrichtung her. Ihr müsst wissen, das Puppenhaus ist 1,35m hoch und hat vier Stockwerke...jedes Stockwerk ist groß genug, dass eine Barbie-Puppe mühelos aufrecht darin stehen kann - aber im Barbie-Puppen-Alter ist Miss M. ja (Gott sei Dank) noch nicht...leider sind normale Puppenhaus-Möbel recht klein, deswegen ist Miss M.'s Puppenhaus nun ein schicker Altbau mit EXTREM-hohen Decken (und in 3 Jahren ziehen dann die Barbies ein).

Since all the furniture was painted on, the house needed a complete set of new furniture. You have to know that the house is 1,35m high and has four levels...every level is big enough that a barbie doll can stand in it comfortably - but Miss M. is not yet at the Barbie-doll-age (thank God)...unfortunately, normal doll furniture is quite small, so Miss M's doll's house is an old-style house with VERY high ceilings (and in three years the Barbies can move in).

Opa sitzt schon seit einigen Tagen auf der Toilette, der Gute muss wohl etwas gegessen haben, dass er nicht vertragen hat (hoffentlich war es nicht Miss M.'s Geburtstagskuchen...)

Granpa has been sitting on the toilette for a few days now, he probably ate something that didn't agree with his tummy (I hope it wasn't Miss M's birthday cake...)

Mama schaut mal nach was die Kinder so treiben...auf geht es in den 3. Stock...

Mummy is checking on the kids...up goes the elevator to the third floor...

Wie gesagt: Altbau mit sehr hohen Wänden ;-) Aber wenn dann irgendwann die Barbie-Besessenheit ausbricht, bin ich gewappnet...natürlich kommt das Haus nicht an Julia's kreatives Meisterstück ran, aber für den ersten Versuch finde ich es gar nicht schlecht...

As I said: an old-stye house with very high ceilings ;-) But at least I am prepared when the Barbies arrive in our household...of course the house is not as gorgeous and creative as Julia's, but I think it's not too bad for my first attempt...
