Neuseeland 2014 - New Zealand 2014

Im März waren Miss M. und ich für drei Wochen in Neuseeland, um alte Freunde und Bekannte zu besuchen.

Und was wir alles erlebt haben:

1. Das erste Mal seit 20 Jahren so richtig mit Playmobil gespielt...es hat zwar vier Stunden gedauert, aber dann stand das Schloss ;-)

In March Miss M. and I visited New Zealand to catch up with old friends.

There was lots to do and discover:

1. First time in 20 years that i have played with Playmobil....it might have taken four hours but finally the castle was finished ;-)

2. Katze Chin fand es in meinem Koffer besonders bequem...ich hatte schon Angst, ich müsste mit nach Deutschland schmuggeln...

2. Chin the cat found the best place to sleep was my suitcase...I really feared I would have to smuggle her into Germany...

3. Ein Besuch bei Spotlight war natürlich Pflicht...

...so viel Auswahl, so wenig Platz im Koffer!!!

...so many fabrics, so little space in my suitcase!!!!

4. Macarons von "J'aime le Macarons"....mmmmh!!! Soooo lecker!

 5. Ich habe es sogar geschafft, ganz alleine mein erstes Feuer zu machen...ohne das Haus abzufackeln!

5. I managed to make my very first fire all by myself...without burning down the house!!!

6. Ich habe es mit dem Stoffkauf dann doch wohl etwas übertrieben und es war kein Platz mehr im Koffer...also musste ich mir selber ein Paket schicken und es war sogar noch Platz für meine geliebten Reiscracker (ich verstehe immer noch nicht, warum es in Deutschland nicht so viele tolle Geschmacksrichtungen wie in NZ gibt)

6. I might have gone a little over the top while shopping for fabric after all. There wasn't enough room in my suitcase, so I had to send myself a package. There was even some room left for my favorite rice crackers (I just can't understand why you can't get all these delicious flavors in Germany)

7. Nach 10 Tagen traute sich Chin dann endlich auf meinen Schoß!

8. Auf dem Rückflug hatten wir dann in Singapore genügend Zeit, um uns in aller Ruhe die Schmetterlinge anzuschauen...soooo schön!

8. On our way back home we had a pretty long stop-over in Singapore and managed to look at the amazing butterfly garden...soooo pretty!

Es war eine schöne Zeit, aber nirgends ist es so schön wie daheim...wir sehen uns dann 2016 in Neuseeland!

We had a great time, but there is no place like home...we'll see you in New Zealand in 2016!

Stoffmarkt Holland / Fabric Market Holland

Alle Nähbegeisterten unter euch kennen ihn bestimmt, für mich war es aber absolutes Neuland: der Stoffmarkt Holland!

Ich bin recht blauäugig an die Sache ran gegangen. Alles was ich wusste war, dass es dort recht günstigen Stoff geben soll. Also machten Miss M. und ich uns auf den Weg um für Mami Stoff zu kaufen...Oh Mann, kann ich nur sagen! Schon die Parkplatzsuche gestaltete sich schwierig. Massen von Menschen pilgerten zum Stoffmarkt und schwer beladen von genau diesem wieder zurück - teilweise mit großen Reisekoffern!!! Darauf war ich so was von nicht vorbereitet.

Aber Miss M. und ich stürzten uns ins Getümmel. Schnell hab ich den Buggy irgendwo stehen lassen, denn damit war bei den vielen Menschen kein Durchkommen. Mit Miss M. auf dem Arm ging es dann auf Stoffjagd und mein kleiner Schatz war super und hat geduldig alles mitgemacht. Gott sei Dank gab es einen Spielplatz, wo sich die Kleine anschließend austoben konnte....

Most sewers probably know about it but I just discovered it recently: The Fabric Market Holland!

I did not really know what it was, all I knew was that they sold cheap fabric. So Miss M. and I decided to buy mummy some fabric ;-) Boy, I had no idea! Finding parking was already a nightmare and I was shocked seeing these masses of people going to the market and coming back from it with huge bags - some even with big suitcases full of fabric!!! 

Miss M. and I joined the hustle and bustle. I quickly left the buggy somewhere and carried Miss M. through the market. My little angel was so good and very patient. Good thing there was a playground at the end of the market, so that she was rewarded for her good behavior....

So viel Auswahl! Baumwollstoffe:  6€/Meter, Jerseystoffe: 9€/Meter, Kunstleder: 5€/Meter, Webbänder: 1,50€/Meter...da schlägt das Nähherz höher...

So many fabrics: Cotton fabrics: 6€/Metre, Jersey fabrics: 9€/Metre, Fake Leather: 5€/Metre, Ribbons: 1,50€/Metre...a sewer's dream!!!

Ja, ich habe ordentlich zugeschlagen ;-)

Ich freu mich jetzt schon auf's nächste Jahr. Nur Miss M. wird dann zuhause bleiben, damit sich Mami ohne Reue und schlechtes Gewissen ganz dem Shopping-Wahn hingeben kann ;-)

Ein Tip, wenn ihr auch mal auf den "Stoffmarkt Holland" wollt: Haltet euch an die Holländer! Traditionell haben auf dem "Stoffmarkt Holland" wie der Name schon sagt, nur holländische Händler verkauft. Inzwischen sind gut die Hälfte der Verkäufer Deutsche. Doch die besten Preise haben nach wie vor die Holländer, da können die Deutschen nicht mithalten.

I can't wait for next year. But Miss M. will stay at home next time, so mummy can shop all day long without worrying about her ;-)

A tip in case you wanna go to a "Fabric Market Holland" as well: Stick to the Dutch! Traditionally only Dutch sellers sold their fabrics on the market but nowadays more and more German vendors sell there as well. But the Dutch definitely have the best prices, Germans can't compete with that!

Photo Friday: Forever 21

Hier in München hat vor Kurzen der lang ersehnte "Forever 21" eröffnet. Ich bin eher aus nostalgischen Gründen hin...als ich vor 10 Jahren meine Tour durch die USA gemacht habe (ganz alleine von New York nach LA) war ich von "Forever 21" und deren Klamotten und Accessoires begeistert. Heute musste ich dann aber fest stellen, dass der Großteil der Sachen wirklich was für Leute ist, die 10 Jahre jünger sind als ich ;-)
Aber Spaß hat es trotzdem gemacht und zwei Teile hab ich dann doch mitgenommen ;-)

A short while ago "Forever 21" finally opened a store in Munich. I went their due to memories of my USA-Tour that I did 10 years ago (from New York to LA all by myself). I remember loving all the clothes from "Forever 21" back then. When I went their today I realized that most of their stuff really is for people who are 10 years younger than me ;-)
But it was fun anyway and I did buy two items in the end ;-)
