Ein Zuhause für meine Snaps / A home for my snaps

Wie bereits erwähnt LIEBE ich meine Snap Press! Ich habe alle meine Snaps (rund zwei Dutzend Farben) erst in einem Beutel aufgehoben, später dann in einer Kiste. Aber es war schon immer nervig, alle Plastiktütchen zu durchsuchen, bis ich die richtige Farbe gefunden habe.

Aber: Das Suchen hat nun ein Ende! Bei Aldi gab es letzte Woche Werkzeugkisten im Angebot. Eigentlich sind die für Schrauben gedacht, aber die Fächer haben die perfekte Größe für alle meine Snap-Teile...alles ist sortiert und einfach zu finden...und das beste ist, es kostete nur 4,99€ pro Kiste - ich hab gleich mal drei Stück mitgenommen, da ich davon ausgehe, dass sich meine Snap-Sammlung noch vergrößern wird ;-)

I already mentioned how much I LOVE my snap press. I used to keep all my snaps (close to two dozen colors) in a little bag and later in a simple box, but it was kind of tedious to always look through all the plastic bags to find the right color.

But: Searching for the right color is a thing of the past now! Aldi (a German discounter) had a toolbox on special. They are supposed to be for sorting screws, but the little departments have the right size for all my snap parts....everything is organized and easy to find....and the best thing is the toolbox cost only 4,99€ - I bought three of them as I am sure my little snap color collection will grow over time ;-)

Roxy Longsocks Puppe / Roxy Longsocks Doll

Morgen hat eine von Miss M.'s besten Freundinnen Geburtstag und natürlich können wir auf der Feier nicht mit leeren Händen aufkreuzen.

Noch aus Neuseeland habe ich das Schnittmuster für die supersüße "Roxy Longsocks"-Puppe im Schrank liegen. Die perfekte Gelegenheit also, die Puppe endlich zum Leben zu erwecken...


It's one of Miss M's best friends birthday tomorrow. Sure thing we can't go to the party empty handed.

I still had the pattern for a super cute "Roxy Longsocks" doll lying around that I bought in New Zealand. The perfect opportunity to let the doll come to lief.

Als Miss M. das Geburtstagsgeschenk für ihre Freundin sah, musste die Nähmaschine gleich noch einmal ran, denn sie gab sie nicht mehr her - gut, dass man die Gesichter der Puppen extra kaufen kann und Mama das damals auch gemacht hat ;-)

When Miss M saw her friends birthday present, I had to get the sewing machine out again cause she refused to give it back - good thing you can buy the little doll faces separatly and that mummy did buy an extra one ;-)

Leinwand als Bilderrahmen / Canvas Picture Holder

Wollt ihr etwas besonderes zu Muttertag, Weihnachten oder Geburtstag basteln? Wie wäre es mit einer Leinwand als Bilderrahmen?

Alles was ihr braucht ist eine Leinwand, etwas Stoff zum bespannen und Gummiband. Los geht's!

Are you looking for a special present for Mother's Day, Christmas or Birthday? What about a Canvas Picture Holder?

All you need is a canvas, fabric and some elastic waistband. Here we go!

Spannt den Stoff mit Hilfe eines Tackers um die Leinwand. Anschließend spannt das Gummiband um die Leinwand (seht zu, dass es schön straff ist). Und fertig! Mal ganz ehrlich, einfacher geht's nun wirklich nicht, oder?

Staple the fabric onto the canvas and then add the elastic waistband (make sure that it is quite tight). All done! Seriously, crafting can't get any easier!

Kinderhose / Children's pants

Ich hatte ja schon in meinem Post über den Wenderock angekündigt, dass ich auch eine Wendehose für Miss M. genäht habe...und wie gesagt, ging dabei so einiges schief ;-)

Ich finde Wendeklamotten für kleine Kinder einfach praktisch, bekleckern sie die eine Seite, können die Sachen einfach umgedreht werden und alles ist wieder sauber.

Ich habe auf meinem Lieblingsblog von "Dana made it" dieses einfache Tutorial für eine Kinderhose entdeckt. Ich dachte mir, es sei ganz einfach die Hose als Wendehose zu nähen, schließlich hat es bei dem Rock ja so gut geklappt...

Ich habe das Schnittmuster ausgedruckt, zusammen geklebt und zwei süße Kinderstoffe für die Hose ausgewählt.

I already mentioned in my post about the "Reversible Skirt" that I also made some reversible pants for Miss M....and as I mentioned, a lot went wrong there ;-)

I love reversible clothes for children, if it is stained on one side you can simple turn them and all is well again.

I found this tutorial on my favorite blog "Dana made it" on simple children's pants. I though it would be easy applying the pattern for reversible pants, since it was so easy when I did the reversible skirt...

I printed the pattern, taped it together and decided on two cute children's fabrics for the pants.

Jede Hose besteht aus vier Teilen. Zuerst wird jede Hose im Schritt zusammen genäht - Vorder- und Hinterteil. Mit dem Overlocker wird der Stoff vor Ausfransen geschützt. Wenn ihr keinen Overlocker habt, geht auch ein einfacher Zickzack-Stich.

Each of the pants consists of four parts. First the front parts will be sewn together at the crotches. I used an overlocker to stop the fabric from fraying. If you don't have an overlocker use a zigzag-stitch.

Anschließend wird die Vorderseite mit der Rückseite der jeweiligen Hose verbunden. Erst am Innenbein, dann am Außenbein.

So, jetzt hatte ich zwei fast fertige Hosen, die zu einer Hose zusammen genäht werden wollen, damit eine Wendehose entsteht...und hier fing es dann an schief zu gehen...Da die zwei Teile des Wenderocks einfach unten zusammen genäht wurden, und dann umgedreht wurden, dachte ich, so müsste es auch bei der Hose gehen. Falsch gedacht, nachdem ich die jeweiligen Beine aneinander genäht hatte wurde mir schnell klar, dass man so eine Hose ja nicht einfach wieder umdrehen kann....ich saß also da und grübelte, wie es sonst machbar wäre...

So nach langem Grübeln wurde mir dann klar, anstatt die zwei Hosen rechts auf rechts zusammen zu nähen und dann umzudrehen (wie es ja bei den meisten Projekten immer der Fall ist), muss ich die Hosen bereits richtig rum gut feststecken und dann mit einem Topstich nähen.

Next the front and the back of the pants will be sewn together. First the inner leg then the outer leg.

So, now I had two almost finished pants which I wanted to turn into one reversible pair of pants....this was the point when things didn't go so smoothly...When I did the reversible skirt I've simple sewn the bottom parts of the two skirts together right sides facing each other...after turning I had a reversible skirt. I thought this would work for the pants as well...well, it didn't. After sewing together the two pants at the feet I realized I couldn't turn them...which is quite logical, but it totally slipped my mind...I spent quite a while trying t figure out how to solve this problem...

After wrecking my brain for an embarrassing long time I realized the solution is quite simple...instead of sewing them together right sides facing each other, I had to sew them together wrong sides facing each other.

So, fast fertig, jetzt nur noch oben den Bund zunähen. Ihr näht hier zwei mal lang. Einmal komplett knapp zwei Zentimeter unter dem Abschluss (je nachdem wie breit euer Gummiband ist) und einmal ganz knapp am Rand entlang. Lasst dabei eine ca. 3 Zentimeter große Öffnung, damit ihr das Gummiband noch durchziehen könnt. Das Gummiband mit Hilfe einer Sicherheitsnadel einfädeln und mit einem Zick-Zack-Stich zusammennähen. Abschließend die Öffnung zunähen.

Almost done. Just have to finish the waistband. You have to sew it twice. Once all around about two centimeters from the top (depending on how wide your elastic is) and once right at the top. Make sure you leave a 3 centimeter gab to fit your elastic in. Put the elastic in with the help of a safety pin and sew it together with a zigzag-stitch. At last close the gap.

Und fertig sind zwei Hosen in einer! Die Hosenbeine sind etwas länger, wenn man sie umkrempelt, sieht man den Stoff der anderen Hose.

And finished are two pairs of pants in one! The legs are a little longer when I put them up the other fabric can be seen.

Miss M. ist ganz begeistert von ihrer neuen Hose. Sieht doch süß aus, oder?

Zuletzt noch ein Tip, wenn ihr Dana's PDF-Schnittmuster ausdruckt. Es ist für amerikanische Papiergrößen ausgelegt, ich habe es auf DIN A4 ausgedruckt und die fertige Hose ist an der Taille etwas knapp...ich werde sie beim nächsten Mal entsprechend ändern...viel Spaß beim Nähen ;-)

Just a little tip, when printing Dana's pattern. It's made for American paper size. I printed it as DIN A4 and the pants are a little tight at the waist...will change the pattern accordingly next time...have fun sewing ;-)

Stoff bezogene Knöpfe / Fabric Covered Buttons

Ich habe schon oft von Stoff bezogenen Knöpfen geredet (zum Beispiel in meinem Beitrag über den Sommerhut für meine Tochter oder den Weihnachtsbaumrock).
Solltet ihr euch gewundert haben, wie ich die mache...hier ist eine Anleitung.

Die Knopfpresse gibt es in den meisten Nähgeschäften (zum Beispiel hier) und dann braucht ihr nur noch etwas Stoffreste.

I often use Fabric Covered buttons on my little sewing projects for example on the Baby Summer Hat or the Christmas Tree Skirt.

Should you have wondered how i make them...here is how.

All you need is a little tool that you can buy in most sewing supply stores (for example here) and some fabric scraps.

Als erstes müsst ihr den Stoffrest um den oberen Knopfteil legen und in die kleine Presse stecken...

First put the fabric around the button top and into the tool...

...dann den unteren Knopfteil einsetzen und mit dem zweiten Pressteil feste andrücken...

...then add the button bottom part and press down with the second tool part...

...und fertig ist ein Stoff bezogener Knopf, der zu allen euren Kreationen passt. Und das Beste ist, es dauert weniger als eine Minute ihn herzustellen!!!

Die Kleine Raupe Nimmersatt / The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Ich habe dieses Tutorial für ein "Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt"-Kuscheltiere gefunden und gleich zwei Exemplare für die Söhne meiner Freundin genäht. Sogar für deren Initialen war noch Platz...sind sie nicht süß?

I found this tutorial for a Very Hungry Caterpillar Soft Toy and decided to make two of them as Christmas presents for my friend's two little boys. I even put their initials on them...aren't they cute?

Neue Snaps / New snaps

Endlich! Heute kam ein Päckchen aus Neuseeland mit ganz vielen neuen Snap-Farben!!! Kann es gar nicht erwarten sie in meine neue Snap-Box einzusortieren!

Falls ihr euch fragt, warum ich die Snaps aus Neuseeland kommen lasse: Die sind da viiiieeel billiger! Während 50 Snaps hier im Durchschnitt 3 Euro kosten; kostet ein 100er Snap-Set in Neuseeland umgerechnet durchschnittlich nur 2,50 Euro! Da lohnen sich bei größeren Bestellungen auch die Versandkosten. Wobei ich glücklicherweise ganz liebe Freunde in Neuseeland habe, die in die regelmäßigen Pakete, die sie an mich und Miss M. schicken, auch gerne ein paar Snaps packen ;-)

Ich bestell sie immer hier. Und es gibt regelmäßig 20% oder sogar 50%-Rabatt - also 100 Snaps für 1,25 Euro, da lohnt es sich erst recht ;-)

Finally! Today a package from New Zealand arrived with heaps of cool new snap colors!!! Can't wait to put them in my new Snap-Box!

In case you are wondering why I order them from New Zealand: They are way cheaper over there!!!! While 50 snaps cost about 3 Euros here, 100 snaps in New Zealand cost only 2,50 Euros. And if you order heaps at once like I tend to do, it even justifies the shipping costs. Although I have very dear friends in NZ who don't mind putting some snaps in the packages they regularly send to me and Miss M ;-)

I always order them here. They often have 20% or even 50% off - so 100 snaps for 1,25 Euro, you can't beat that price ;-)
